Social benefits — information brochure

Association for Legal Intervention (Stowarzyszenie Interwencji Prawnej) is a Polish non-governmental organization that aims to take action to protect human rights, including combating all forms of discrimination. Their specific aim is to support refugees, refugee women, migrants and migrant women residing in Poland. They are also the authors of the information brochure Social benefits for Ukrainian citizens and nationals arriving in Poland after 24 February 2022.

Comprehensive overview

The document contains information on different types of financial benefits, including childbirth benefits, parental benefit (the so-called 500+), attendance benefits (for persons with disabilities, including children and the elderly over 75 years of age) and attendance benefits (for parents or carers of children with disabilities). The following questions can be answered in the document:

  • How much are the specific benefits?
  • To whom are they entitled?
  • When and where to apply for them and how to apply?
  • Where can I find confirmation whether an application has been successful?
  • What if we meet the benefit criteria and our application has been rejected – how to appeal?
  • When should benefits be paid?
  • What should we do if our life situation changes, and we know that we no longer meet the criteria for the benefit we were previously granted?

The brochure is aimed directly at refugees, but can also be a valuable resource for reception point staff and volunteers.

Legal portal for people fleeing Ukraine

The Association for Legal Intervention has been providing legal assistance to refugees from Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine – including in the form of an online platform, where one can find information on legal border crossing, legalization of residence, social matters, unaccompanied children under Polish law, education and international protection. You can also follow current developments in refugee law there.
