The Ukrainian Center for Education Foundation is a non-governmental organization whose main goal is to educate and integrate Ukrainians living in Poland. Therefore, since 2016, we have been implementing our main activity, which is running a Ukrainian school in Poland – the Materynka school. The school is run in Warsaw. For this purpose, we obtain grants as well as donations from donors who want to support our activities.

At the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year, we had about 200 students from Ukraine in our Materynka school. The situation in connection with the martial law in Ukraine has become for us both a challenge and a real undertaking of new activities within our Foundation.

As the refugee crisis has led to an increase in the number of families with schoolchildren in Poland, we have started to admit new students – refugees, to our Ukrainian Materynka school in Warsaw. In our school, we implement an education program compatible with both the education system in Ukraine and the Ministry of Education in Ukraine. Currently, about 1,000 refugee students of various ages benefit from education and care in our school, of which about 800 are students who came to Poland after February 24, 2022. This number continues to grow.

Due to the growing number of students, from February 24, 2022, we have employed over 40 teachers – refugees, thanks to the support of the Polish Center for International Aid Foundation. They are all refugees who came to Poland after 02/24/2022. From the very beginning, we want to support our brothers and sisters, we want to treat them as partners in our activities and help them get back on their feet as soon as possible. They can do it with a job. Our professional support is aimed at teachers and psychologists who have worked in these professions in Ukraine. We have the opportunity to provide them with continuation of work in the profession of teachers or psychologists, which not only supports employment, but also allows them to work in accordance with their qualifications.

As part of the activities of our Foundation and thus the Materynka school, we also employ Ukrainian teachers who came to Poland before February 24, 2022. Salaries for these people, as well as all costs, such as renting the premises, utilities, etc., come from donations made by donors to the Ukrainian Center for Education Foundation.
