The Stołeczna Chorągiew ZHP is organizing, in cooperation with SKIF – the National Organization of Ukrainian Scouting, a project in which we invite children and young people from Ukraine to participate in scout camps in Poland.
Above all, the project will allow children and young people to get away from the realities of the ongoing war and ensure their psychological well-being through contact with nature and making friends.
Thanks to the participation of Ukrainian children and young people in scout camps with our scouts and scouts, it will be possible to build international relations and broaden the social competences of both Ukrainian and Polish young people. The scouting method is based on working in small, natural groups of friends, who together perform a variety of tasks and challenges that shape character and attitudes. The camp program constructed in this way will allow integration between our nations, the elimination of prejudices and stereotypes, as well as mutual language learning.
The Freedom Camp project involves inviting scouts and Ukrainian children and young people from four cities: Kyiv, Mariupol, Dnipro and Bucza, to scout camps in Poland, where they will be able to take advantage of a unique offer to participate in summer camps in July and August.
The project will consist of several stages:
– transportation of participants from the places where they are currently staying in Ukraine to Poland (to the scout bases) and return after the camps;
– provision of a programme in accordance with the scouting method and care during the 14-day or 21-day holiday;
– providing psychological care during the holidays;
Approximately 150 people will participate in the whole project.
