The Youth Creative Work Center in Dąbrowa Górnicza, as part of a grant from IKEA, is implementing an artistic project entitled „Together we can do more – fun is a serious matter”, which is aimed at children, youth and families from Ukraine. It aims to integrate with young people from our country, jointly discover the cultural heritage of Poland and Ukraine, exchange experiences, deepen artistic skills, as well as develop passion in the field of fine arts and theater, and learn the Polish language. During the year, about 1,200 pupils participate in the activities conducted by the facility, including about 60 children and teenagers with refugee experience. The musical project „The world is ruled by imagination” is running simultaneously.
The Youth Creative Work Center aims to build participants’ self-esteem and pride in joint achievements, strengthen their life aspirations through new skills and activities integrating with the local community, and promote pro-social and pro-ecological attitudes.
The program focuses on the organization of a series of art, theater and music workshops for children and youth with migration experience and on the integration of participants with the local environment. As part of the project, there will also be an exhibition of artistic works and a performance set by the Artistic Textile Studio at the Youth Creative Work Center. The program will also include visits to cultural institutions, headquarters of local companies, incl. IKEA, or presentations and lectures that will contribute to the expansion of various forms of education.
