WHAT DO WE DO?
WE HELP REFUGEES FIND THEIR NEW PLACE ON EARTH IN POLAND
Our mission is to accompany, serve and support people with refugee experience and other people forced to resettle. We help them to recover physically and mentally, to get the education they need and thus to decide their future. The Jesuit Refugee Service Poland Foundation is the Polish branch of the international, Catholic organisation JRS International, founded in 1980 by Jesuit Father Pedro Arrupe SJ and now operating in 58 countries around the world. Refugees – we call them international friends – who come to our office can be sure that they will find a safe and friendly atmosphere, with the scent of warm tea and biscuits.
POLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING
We run Polish language courses for adults, thanks to which visitors learn how to find their way around the Polish reality on their own.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING
In addition, we run English language courses for adults, which improve the professional skills of the outpatients.
PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT
We support our clients by offering psychological support. This is aimed at people who have experienced many traumas related to war, violence or persecution (because of race, religion, nationality, political beliefs or membership of a particular social group). For school-age children we organise art therapy classes.
SELF-DEVELOPMENT
We run a development group for women where we work on emotions and coping with difficult life situations. We address three of the five key elements of building wellbeing: well being emotional, social and social.
INTEGRATION
We want to create an integrated community where everyone feels wanted and cared for. We organise events and activities that provide a place of familiarity for the guests themselves, but which also help them to get to know our Polish culture.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE
We support with professional legal advice on issues of residence in Poland.
