Since the first days of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Stryi Caritas has been helping people affected by the war. Attention is focused on the most needy: first of all, these are pregnant women, large families, families with persons with disabilities, pensioners, and single mothers. Our goal is to help everyone find a way to organize their life in new conditions. Caritas provides displaced persons with food and hygiene kits, detergents and medicines. And now the most important thing is to find resources for purchasing warm clothes and shoes; therefore, we do everything possible to give people the opportunity to survive these terrible times when they had to leave their homes.
Internally displaced persons and local people from vulnerable categories can contact the Crisis Center in Strya and receive comprehensive assistance. We have a crisis manager and case managers who study each person’s situation in detail and look for ways to help in the best possible way. You can apply, in particular, with the following requests: the need for humanitarian aid (food, clothing, shoes, hygiene products), temporary or permanent housing, registration or renewal of documents, employment, medical examination or treatment, etc.
At the Crisis Center, beneficiaries can receive free legal advice for various types of requests: social security, housing and communal services, family issues, travel abroad, etc.
An important area of work today is psychological support. Child and adult psychologists work in Stryi Caritas, who provide both individual and group consultations. In addition, we conduct various events – trainings, film screenings, psychological support groups.
The Center for leisure and social adaptation for young people with disabilities operates at Stryi Caritas. About 30 young people with mental disorders visit it.
“DiM” for youth with disabilities – “DiM” stands for Kindness and Mercy. This is the first House of supported accommodation for youth with mental and complex disorders in the Stryi community and in the Caritas of Ukraine network.
