Many Ukrainian children, fleeing from the war, found shelter in Warsaw. Many of them were deprived of the possibility of learning in their home schools by the war. The Warsaw Ukrainian School (SzkoUA) was created out of an urgent need to provide these children with the opportunity to complete the school year. It was planned as a three-month project. Unfortunately, the war continues and the SzkoUA is still needed.
We give our students the opportunity to study free of charge in a safe environment: in their native language, in the Ukrainian educational system they know and among colleagues who have had similar experiences. We create a mutually supportive community. At the end of the year, our students receive official Ukrainian certificates.
Bearing in mind what our students have gone through, apart from education, we provide psychological care to each student. We support entire families when needed. Each child at SzkoUA receives a hot meal. At SzkoUA, we also care about the integration of students with Polish society (we teach Polish language, history and culture, and organize meetings with Polish peers). Our staff is trained by Polish and foreign specialists. Thanks to numerous friends, the school community participates in remarkable events and activities.
