Słuszna Strawa is a social cooperative created and run by people with migration experience. We started by cooking together, supporting each other in learning the language, solving official and legal problems.

Since March 2022, we have created more than 20 new positions for refugees from Ukraine, Belarus, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iraq, Uzbekistan and Nigeria. Today, the cooperative is made up of almost 60 people. We are building a community based on solidarity, mutual support, sharing of resources, acceptance. We learn collective, equal decision-making, sharing responsibility, building agency and subjectivity.

The heart of the cooperative is the kitchen, where we cook vegan food based on our traditional recipes. We want to share with you the flavours close to our hearts. We cook food using homemade recipes that are part of our best memories of the places we had to leave.

We also run a range of support activities for people at risk of social exclusion, especially those who have experienced forced migration and are trying to build a new life in Poland. Since the beginning of March 2022, we’ve cooked hundreds of meals every day for refugees in reception centres, hostels etc. for a year, and since August 2022 we have also been serving lunches in our bistro. We carry out these activities due to the support of Mercy Corps and the Norwegian Refugee Council.

• getting acquainted with the Polish health care system and making medical appointments
• finding information about the benefits you are entitled to, including financial ones
• obtaining legal advice
• looking for a nursery, kindergarten or school for your children
• directing you to specific organizations or institutions in case you need assistance in the matters going beyond the above-mentioned scope (including to organizations distributing food vouchers)
• in exceptional and necessary cases, accompanying you during your visits in public offices, institutions, medical facilities, etc. (each time scheduled individually with the available social assistant)
