Safe Passage provides free legal advice to people escaping the conflict in Ukraine and wishing to relocate to the United Kingdom.

The Ukraine Response Project works through a collaboration between Safe Passage and 9 law firms, who send out pro-bono lawyers to work in our legal clinic in Warsaw. The project aims to support anyone who needs information and personalised legal advice on the UK’s Homes for Ukraine scheme and Ukraine Family Scheme. We run the legal clinic across three locations in Warsaw, offering face-to-face legal consultations in the PFM center, Modlinska reception centre, and the Ukrainian House.

We aim to support those most let down and ignored by Europe’s response to the invasion – non-Ukrainian refugees, Roma and traveller communities, unaccompanied children, those without passports or ID etc. Many of these refugees experience additional barriers to reaching safety in the UK. Our work in Warsaw aims to ensure that all refugees have access to the safe routes they need to reach sanctuary.

Alongside providing legal advice, we also work to make existing routes to protection more accessible and effective, support their expansion and defend the fundamental rights of people on the move. Our project in Warsaw is unique as it combines the provision of face-to-face information and one-off legal advice with information gathering to support advocacy and campaigning to open and widen safe routes to the UK for those fleeing the Ukraine conflict. It is hoped that the information gathered could also be used to support strategic litigation depending on the issues that arise, upholding and strengthening refugee rights.

We invite you to Górczewska in Warsaw on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to Modlińska on Mondays and Fridays, and to the Ukrainian House on Wednesdays.
