SPYNKA program:

Most of the refugees who have come to Poland from Ukraine are women with children, traumatized by the experience of war.

Like everyone around us, we wondered how we could help the refugees. We decided that we would do what we know how to do – meet the developmental needs of the youngest children.

In April 2022, we launched the SPYNKA Program, as part of which we create and run Spynki – places of care and education for Ukrainian children. The Program prepares children for integration into the educational system and helps children and mothers adapt to new living conditions.

The goals of the Program are:

• to support mothers and the youngest children from Ukraine by providing quality care for refugee children and to support refugee families in adapting to new living conditions
• organizing „Spynki,” which are places of care and education for children. Spynki are run by Ukrainian caregivers trained under the Program.

Activities:

• Training Ukrainian nannies to work in „Spynki” – places of care and education for the youngest children,
• Organizing regular classes for children in two age groups:
  – 1-3 years – up to 15 children
  – 4-5 years old – up to 25 children
• Animation of activities for children at temporary accommodation points in Poland.
