The following assistance is provided at the Crisis Intervention Centre of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Katowice:
1.Psychological assistance is provided in an individual and family formula and includes:
information, education, support,
crisis intervention, short-term therapy,
specialist counseling – psychological, pedagogical,
preparing people in crisis or violent situations to participate in legal procedures (e.g. depositions, hearings, etc.),
group forms of psychological support – psycho-educational support group for people experiencing violence, training groups aimed at acquiring various skills (stress management, assertive behaviour and self-protection, conflict resolution by means of negotiation, correct and effective communication, dealing with child-rearing problems).
Legal assistance. Legal assistance includes the provision of legal advice, legal education and assistance in writing legal and official pleadings.
2.Social assistance. Social assistance is based on the discernment of the family situation, the securing of necessary social needs and the provision of shelter in acute crises and life-threatening situations. This assistance is implemented through cooperation with the social workers of the Territorial Social Assistance Points.
3 Intervention assistance. The Centre intervenes in crisis situations and in response to incoming signals of violence, abuse of children, the elderly and the disabled. The interventions, depending on the situation, the degree of risk of persons, are in the form of community visits, intervention talks aimed at getting persons to cooperate. Interventions also include contacts with judicial institutions (Police, Prosecutor’s Office, Court) in order to support clients’ cases, expedite their progress, etc. In specific situations, the centre „ex officio” takes legal action on behalf of clients, with particular attention to the situation and safety of children.
4 Provision of shelter. The centre secures shelter of an intervention nature at the Maria Immaculate Association „Po Moc” for Women and Children: Katowice, 21 Krasińskiego Street, tel. 32/ 255-38-69.
5 Specialist counseling. The Centre provides Katowice residents with specialist advice related to solving the problem of domestic violence and in crisis situations, including those related to alcohol and other addictions in the form of:
